MORAN — Captain “Magic” Valentino Willis is bringing his anti-drug and anti-violence message to students in Iola, Moran and Humboldt.
“I’m teaching kids to respect their culture, teachers, counselors and be involved in education,” Willis said. “I’m trying to help kids all around the country.”
Willis was at Marmaton Valley on Monday.

ACMAT, Allen County Multi-Agency Team, is partnering with Willis in the effort to combat drugs. ACMAT Chairwoman, Angela Murphy, said Willis is an effective messenger.
“When I saw Willis’s message and intent, it was a perfect marriage with ACMAT’s goals,” Murphy said.
“These kids are our future and we need to make sure they’re educated.”
Willis was formerly with Harlem Comedy Basketball. He was also drafted by the New Jersey Nets where he averaged 25 points per game.
